Wuthering Waves fans have a lot to look forward to on June 12, as Kuro Games prepares to release version 2.4 Lightly We Toss the Crown — a major content update that adds new characters, questlines, events, gameplay systems, and optimizations. The announcement was made during a livestream recap, which also offered players three limited-time reward codes and an extended preview of what’s coming next for the open-world action RPG.
Two New Story Chapters
The main quest continues in Chapter II with Acts V (Shadow of Glory) and VI (Flames of Heart), progressing the game’s overarching narrative. Players can expect intense cinematic sequences, character interactions, and new areas to explore as the Septimont region opens for the first time.
New Resonators, Outfits, and Weapons
Two new playable characters, Cartethyia and Lupa, will be available through the upcoming convenes. Both are paired with new signature weapons — Defier’s Thorn and Wildfire Mark — debuting in featured weapon banners.
For style-focused players, two deluxe outfits will also be available: Laurel Nymph for Changli and Splashing Summer for Carlotta. These cosmetics add visual flair while remaining optional for gameplay.
Explore the Region of Septimont
The update introduces a brand new area, Septimont, with expansive exploration content. This includes the Septimont Travel Atlas, an event-driven system that offers rewards for discovering landmarks, gathering resources, and completing region-specific tasks.
Several new Echoes will be scattered across this region — including Lioness of Glory, Spectro Drake, Fusion Drake, and Nightmare: Kelpie — each with unique abilities and effects that can be slotted into player builds.
Fresh Events and Challenges
A wide array of new time-limited events are rolling out alongside the update. These include:
- The Everglorious Summit – Area exploration event
- Uncovering Past Heroes – A new photo collection activity
- Gifts of Applause – A 7-day login event with free rewards
- Virtual Crisis: Frontier Trials – Combat-focused challenge mode
There’s also the introduction of Tactical Hologram: Kelpie — a new boss trial with mechanics that push your builds and dodge timing to the limit.
New Systems and Optimizations
Version 2.4 includes the new Global Filter feature for PC, Mac, and PS5 players, allowing users to adjust visual tone through in-game filters. A new In-game Guide Depot has also been added to help players optimize their Resonators and team builds.
For those chasing 100% completion, new Echo Aspects and Phantom Echoes are now collectible. These rare units come with exclusive Sonata Effects like Windward Pilgrimage and Flaming Clawprint, encouraging new strategic loadouts.
Streamlined Progression
The Main Quest Focus Mode will go live with this update, allowing players to follow story content more cleanly. Additionally, the Next Stop: Rinascita fast-track event helps newer players leap into Version 2.0 content more efficiently.
One of the Most Polished Gacha Games on GFN
Since launch, Wuthering Waves has been praised for its smooth combat, high-quality worldbuilding, and responsive traversal mechanics. It’s already earned multiple awards, and Version 2.4 looks set to maintain that momentum with one of the game’s biggest content expansions yet.
