Mirthwood’s charming medieval life sim world is about to get even better with friends. Announced during ClemmyGames’ Best Indie Games Summer Showcase 2025, the upcoming Co-Op Update brings local multiplayer and Steam Remote Play support to the game later this summer.

Playable on GeForce NOW via Steam, Mirthwood lets you shape your fate across farming, fighting, romance, and family-building — and soon, all of that can be done side-by-side.

Farm, Fight, and Raise a Family Together

Set in the vibrant Freelands of Mirthwood, this update allows two players to drop in and out of gameplay while keeping their individual levels, gear, and skills intact. Every activity you could do in solo mode — from slaying enemies to starting a family — will now support couch co-op or Steam Remote Play.

Each player can maintain their personal progression while still enjoying the shared experience. That includes romance, marriage, and raising children, all now possible with a friend watching it unfold (or helping along the way).

Local Now, Online Later

While this summer’s update introduces local co-op and Remote Play, a full online multiplayer mode is also on the roadmap for the future. It’s not ready just yet, but fans will be glad to know that this indie hit is building toward a more connected experience.

For more news straight from the Freelands, keep an eye on the official Mirthwood website or join the community on Discord.

What Is Mirthwood?

If you haven’t already tried it, Mirthwood is a cozy-yet-challenging open-world life sim RPG. You start with nothing but a patch of land and a few tools, then craft your destiny across six biomes, three towns, and a fully simulated society where every choice affects the world around you.

Whether you’re farming fields, battling bandits, or chasing rare loot, Mirthwood gives you a dynamic, richly reactive world. You can shape your skills, build a homestead, make friends (or enemies), and now do all of that with a companion in co-op.
