Demo launches July 24 ahead of Season 3 update on August 7
NEXON revealed a brand-new trailer for The First Descendant during Summer Game Fest 2025, giving players a cinematic look at what’s to come in the upcoming Season 3: Breakthrough update. The looter-shooter is ramping up for its biggest content push yet—and fans won’t have to wait long to try it.
The demo for the Breakthrough update lands on July 24 and includes the massive new Axion Plains open field, the Hover Bike traversal vehicle, and a colossal new boss challenge in the Colossus Field Raid. The full update arrives August 7.
Players who pre-register now through August 7 will unlock exclusive rewards including a Descendant Selection Box, milestone bonuses, and even an Ultimate Weapon Selection Box. If total pre-registrations hit one million, all pre-registered players will receive an Ultimate Descendant Selection Box as a bonus.
Season 3 Plans and Community Events
To celebrate the game’s first anniversary, Descendant Fest will go live on July 1, offering players a roadmap preview and new insight into future content. A live developer livestream is also planned for June 11, promising more gameplay footage and developer commentary on upcoming changes.
Originally launched in July 2024, The First Descendant has built a dedicated community around its Unreal Engine 5-powered visuals, fast-paced third-person action, and co-op gameplay. Players take on the role of Descendants in a high-stakes war against alien invaders, teaming up in 4-player raids to fight tactical bosses and uncover the lore behind the world.
