System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster Drops New Co-Op Trailer Ahead of GFN Launch

Player holding a futuristic device faces off against infected crew members in a sci-fi corridor

Nightdive Studios unveiled a new multiplayer trailer for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster during the Future Games Show, highlighting the fully rebuilt co-op experience coming later this month. The trailer showcases cross-platform multiplayer support and confirms the game’s June 26 release on Steam.

The remaster is officially part of NVIDIA’s June GeForce NOW lineup, meaning it’ll be streamable on GFN from day one.

A defining classic returns in full for

First released in 1999, System Shock 2 set the benchmark for sci-fi horror and immersive storytelling in first-person games. Players wake aboard the starship Von Braun to find it overrun by mutants, rogue AI, and the terrifying SHODAN. Combining RPG progression with survival horror, it influenced everything from BioShock to Prey.

This remaster modernizes the experience with upgraded visuals, improved UI, and quality-of-life features. PC players will also get full mod support at launch, including the ability to install community missions.

Multiplayer rebuilt for modern play

The original game’s co-op mode was an underused cult feature — this new version brings it front and center. The remaster supports 2–4 player online co-op with crossplay, letting players team up across platforms to survive SHODAN’s nightmare together.

It’s part of a broader effort to make this the definitive version of System Shock 2, with modern enhancements like 4K resolution, 144 FPS support on PC, updated cutscenes, and over 50 new achievements.
