A new chapter begins for Sultan’s Game with the launch of official mod support on Steam. The twist-filled card sim now opens the gates to player-created chaos, just as Double Cross Studio prepares a major update and story-driven DLC for later this year.
One Click to Corruption
The new modding tools are fully integrated with Steam Workshop, letting players download or upload mods with a single click. It supports a wide range of tweaks — from new cards and characters to entirely new storylines. If you’ve ever wanted to rewrite the fate of a minister in the Sultan’s court, now’s your chance.
The team says mod support will expand over time, with features shaped by community feedback.
More Twists on the Way
Double Cross Studio and publisher 2P Games aren’t stopping at mods. A Major Update and a brand-new DLC are also in the works. One of the standout additions is a short novel written by Lyu Munan, the game’s original writer, set in the darkly satirical world of Sultan’s Game.
That’s alongside new in-game content inspired by a community Q&A campaign, including:
- A new character
- Several new weapons
- Additional items and story elements
The content reflects a back-and-forth with the game’s crowdfunding community and will bring fan input directly into the game. Teasers for these additions will be shared on Double Cross’s social channels ahead of release.
Localisation Gets an Overhaul
The English translation of Sultan’s Game is also getting an update. The dev team is refining the localisation to better reflect the original tone — a mix of biting humor, dark irony, and brutal court politics.
It’s another sign that the game is being continuously improved both mechanically and narratively, even after launch.
A Game of Death, Decisions, and Drama
Sultan’s Game is a narrative card-based simulation where you play as a minister in the court of a cruel and unpredictable ruler. Inspired by The One Thousand and One Nights, your job is to survive the deadly whims of the Sultan while navigating power struggles, betrayal, and moral compromise.
It blends visual novel storytelling with strategic deck-building mechanics, all wrapped in richly illustrated Middle Eastern-inspired art.
