The wait is nearly over — IO Interactive has officially unveiled the title of its long-anticipated James Bond game. It’s called First Light, and the full reveal is happening this week.
The announcement came via both IOI and Summer Game Fest’s social accounts, confirming the title and teasing a reveal timed perfectly with the June showcase season. While the exact platform for the announcement wasn’t specified, all signs point toward Summer Game Fest Live on June 7.
What We Know About First Light
First Light is set to be an original James Bond story, not based on any previous film. IOI has previously stated the game will follow a younger, unestablished Bond, as he earns his 00 status for the first time. This approach gives the studio freedom to shape a new canon, without being tied to Daniel Craig or earlier interpretations.
While full gameplay and story details remain under wraps, we’re expecting a stealth-focused, cinematic spy thriller drawing heavily from IOI’s Hitman DNA but with a broader espionage tone. The project has reportedly been in development since 2020.
A Likely Headliner for Summer Game Fest
Given the timing and marketing push, First Light is poised to be one of the big surprises of the summer. Whether it’s gameplay, a cinematic trailer, or even a release window, we’ll be watching the reveal closely.
Could It Come to GeForce NOW?
IO Interactive has been a consistent supporter of cloud platforms their full Hitman trilogy is already playable on GeForce NOW. That history gives us reason to believe First Light is a strong candidate for the service when launch time comes.
