Tactical shooter fans have a new mission to dive into as EXFIL, the infantry-focused FPS from MicroProse, rolls out its biggest update yet. A new mode, added tools of warfare, and improved systems arrive alongside a free weekend event and a limited-time discount on Steam.
EXFIL has always been about gritty, grounded combat no perks, no overpowered loadouts, just pure skill-based extraction under pressure. Now, with this major update, players will find even more ways to strategize and survive.
What’s New in the EXFIL Update?
The update introduces a new game mode built around even tighter objectives and faster decision-making. Players can now also make use of drones, adding a new layer of recon strategy to their approach. Alongside this, various gameplay improvements enhance movement, responsiveness, and combat clarity—key for a game where split-second decisions mean life or death.
To showcase the new features, the devs released a gameplay video featuring two squads in a chaotic intel-extraction mission, highlighting the intense player-vs-player-vs-AI dynamic at the core of EXFIL.
Free Weekend and Discount
EXFIL will be free to play on Steam starting May 29 at 6 PM UK time, running through to June 1. Players who want to stick around after trying it out can grab the game at 25% off until June 6.
MicroProse’s Tactical Lineup Expands
EXFIL joins MicroProse’s growing catalog of tactical shooters, including Ground Branch, another hardcore FPS that prioritizes teamwork, realism, and communication. Both games share a philosophy of methodical, unforgiving gameplay and strong community support.
