Dreadzone Delayed to July 17, Avoiding Steam Summer Sale Clash

First-person shooter view in a dense forest from DREADZONE

DREADZONE, the upcoming survival shooter set in a virus-ravaged future, has officially moved its release date. Originally planned for June 26, the game will now hit Steam Early Access on July 17. The developers cited the Steam Summer Sale as a major reason for the shift, explaining that launching during the massive discount period would likely hurt visibility.

The short delay also allows the team extra time to polish the experience and implement a few more features before players jump in. A brand-new trailer has dropped alongside the announcement, teasing more of the grim world and fast-paced action awaiting survivors.

Why the Delay Makes Sense

Launching a new title during the Steam Summer Sale can be risky for smaller or mid-sized games. With thousands of discounted titles flooding the storefront, even highly anticipated releases can get buried. Moving DREADZONE to mid-July gives it a much better chance to stand out — and makes this delay feel more like smart timing than a setback.

Plus, it’s a good sign that the developers are using the extra time to continue refining the game. A few extra weeks can make a big difference when balancing survival mechanics, performance, and combat systems in a complex open-world title.

What DREADZONE Is All About

Set in the year 2030, DREADZONE drops players into a bleak world on the edge of collapse. A lethal virus called Zeno-29 has turned much of the population into mutated horrors. To contain the spread, governments have set up massive quarantine zones — and you’re one of the infected sent to live out your final days.

Within these zones, survival is brutal. You’ll need to scavenge, craft, build, and trade to stay alive while navigating collapsing factories, underground bunkers, and dense forests teeming with threats. Zombies, mutants, wildlife, and hostile soldiers are all waiting — and the infection is slowly consuming you.

Every decision matters. Will you align with the last remaining scientists and help push for a cure? Or will you fully embrace the mutation, turning into something monstrous and joining the war against government forces?
