Ubisoft has dropped Title Update 1.0.5 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, bringing with it a surprising new crossover, a long-requested quest unlock, and major upgrades to how you move through Feudal Japan.
The patch is live from May 27 at 2 PM UTC, with download sizes ranging from 3 to 19 GB depending on your platform.
A Dog, a Ghost, and a Fistful of Bug Fixes
First up, the update finally unlocks Thrown to the Dogs, the pre-order bonus quest that lets you avenge a fallen samurai alongside his loyal dog. Complete it to unlock Tsuki-maru as a pet for your Hideout.
But the biggest surprise is the Dead by Daylight crossover event, complete with an eerie new Hideout mission. As villagers go missing, Naoe investigates the supernatural force behind the attacks. The quest introduces a limited-time challenge and rewards players with a trinket, banner, and an optional cosmetic pack that includes weapons, outfits, and even a mount named Maurice.
You’ll need Yasuke unlocked to access the quest, and once completed, the event-exclusive gear is yours to keep.
Legendary Trinkets and Community-Sourced Perks
A new trinket for Naoe and amulet for Yasuke inspired by Balatro are now in the game. The “Winning Hand” perk gives your combo enders a shot at inflicting a random affliction. The catch? Ubisoft isn’t saying how to get them. You’ll need to figure it out yourself.
Movement Just Got an Upgrade
The parkour system gets a big lift in this patch. There’s now a vertical jump mechanic that lets you grab ledges and overhangs without needing a wall run. Sprinting has been improved, and both side and back ejects give you more distance with smoother landings. Animations for Naoe have also been updated to better reflect aerial control.
These changes come directly from community feedback, and they make free-running feel far more responsive.
Photo Mode Overhaul
The Photo Mode update adds time-of-day settings, stickers, poses, camera speed tweaks, music playback, and even full-screen support on PC. You can now save custom filters and reset individual parameters without losing your whole setup.
It’s the biggest photo mode enhancement in Assassin’s Creed history, and it’s clearly built with creators in mind.
Bug Fixes and Balance Tweaks
There are too many fixes to list in full, but highlights include:
- Persistent “new item” notification is gone
- Broken quests like “Vision of Realms” and “Wake Up Call” now work
- Hideout stability improved for players who went overboard on decoration
- Samurai Daisho’s wild Mon payout nerfed and the economy rebalanced to encourage exploration over grinding
A bunch of edge case quest bugs, animation quirks, and even giant NPCs appearing in towns have all been addressed.
