Fans of strategy, storytelling, and survival will want to keep a close eye on Frosthaven. The highly anticipated tactical RPG from Snapshot Games will be getting its first-ever public demo from June 9 to June 16 as part of Steam Next Fest — and yes, it will playable on GeForce NOW.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of the Gloomhaven and Frosthaven board games or just curious to try a challenging RPG built by genre veterans, this is the perfect time to jump in. The demo includes online co-op for up to four players, full voiceover support from Forteller Games, and the ability to stream it anywhere through GFN.
A new frosty journey from the minds behind X-COM and Gloomhaven
Frosthaven is a new digital adaptation of the hit board game, developed by Snapshot Games and published by Arc Games. The project is led by Julian Gollop best known for creating X-COM with consulting from Frosthaven and Gloomhaven creator Isaac Childres. The result is a dark fantasy tactical RPG that blends deep strategy, co-op adventuring, and survival-style base building.
The game previously ran a Closed Beta earlier this year, but the upcoming demo marks the first time all PC players can experience it for themselves — no codes or signups required.
What’s included in the demo
The Frosthaven demo will be available from June 9 at 10am PT until June 16 at 10am PT. It includes:
- Single player and online co-op for 2–4 players
- Four unique character classes to choose from
- Tactical quests and tutorial missions
- Outpost building mechanics with unlockable features
- Narrated story segments from Forteller Games
- Full NVIDIA GeForce NOW support
It’s a sizeable slice of what’s to come when the game launches in Early Access later this year, giving players a proper feel for both combat and long-term progression systems.
Built with community feedback in mind
Julian Gollop explained that feedback from the earlier Closed Beta helped shape many of the changes players will see in the demo. These include UI and gameplay improvements, balancing tweaks, and new narration features thanks to the collaboration with Forteller — a team best known for narrating the board game version.
“Frosthaven will be an evolving adventure,” Gollop said, “and this upcoming demo will let us have even more players jump in and help us evolve the game before it launches.”
