You don’t need a sale to know a game is worth playing. But when the same titles get massive discounts every few months, it helps to know which ones are actually worth picking up. These aren’t throwaway indie bundles or ten-year-old games you’ll never touch. These are high-quality games that just happen to be cheap more often than not.
If you’re building out your GeForce NOW library or just looking to stock up smart, here are five games that regularly hit heavy discounts and actually deserve a spot in your collection.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (90% off)
You already know the name. What’s wild is that this still gets discounted to pocket change. The Witcher 3 is a massive open-world RPG with some of the best quest design in the genre, characters that feel properly human, and writing that doesn’t treat you like an idiot. It’s one of the rare games where both the main story and side content actually matter.
Even now, it holds up. The Complete Edition includes two full expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, and both are better than most standalone games. At full price, it’s still good value. When it hits 90 percent off, you’re getting one of the best RPGs ever made for almost nothing.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (90% off)
Odyssey is Ubisoft excess turned into a playground. The world is massive, the gear grind is real, and the map is filled with distractions. But if that’s your thing, this game delivers. Ancient Greece is genuinely fun to explore, and whether you play as Kassandra or Alexios, the story gives you just enough reason to keep moving.
There’s ship combat, dialogue choices, bounty hunters, and a lot of wandering into fights you’re not ready for. It’s not subtle and it’s definitely not short, but it might be the best of the modern AC games. When it’s on sale, there’s no excuse to skip it.
Slay the Spire (75% off)
This is the game every other deckbuilding roguelike is still trying to beat. Slay the Spire has a perfect balance of structure, randomness, and strategy. Each character offers different builds and every run forces you to adapt. You’ll get wrecked by bad luck, then win with something ridiculous that shouldn’t have worked.
It’s easy to drop in for a quick run but hard to put down. One of the most replayable games around and an essential part of any smart game library.
Katana ZERO (50% off)
Katana ZERO is fast, bloody, and clever. It’s a side-scroller where everything can kill you in one hit, but you get to rewind time and try again instantly. You’re slicing through rooms, dodging bullets, and piecing together a story that is much stranger than it first seems.
The movement is tight, the soundtrack is incredible, and once it clicks, you’ll start to feel unstoppable. Then you’ll die again and be reminded you’re not. It’s short but sharp, and well worth picking up.
SteamWorld Heist (93% off)
This one slips under the radar too often. SteamWorld Heist is a turn-based tactics game where every shot is aimed manually. You bounce bullets off walls, manage a crew of robot misfits, and raid ships for loot. It’s clever, lean, and doesn’t waste your time with filler.
It plays like a condensed XCOM with personality and a great soundtrack. The 90 percent discount is always there, but it’s good enough to recommend even at full price.
There’s no shortage of great games on sale, but not all of them are worth your time. These five are. Whether you’re into tactical shootouts, sprawling RPGs, or quick roguelike runs, they all deliver something worth playing — and they just happen to be cheap most of the time. Keep them on your radar. When the next sale hits, you’ll know exactly what to grab.
