Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Announced as Prequel with New Hero and Mythical Twist – Opted In

Character in a cave illuminated by a golden ceiling with spiral motifs

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is the next chapter in Asobo Studio’s acclaimed series — and this time, it’s going back in time. Revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase, the game is set 15 years before the original A Plague Tale and introduces Sophia as the new lead.

Even better, it has already opted into GeForce NOW, and with both A Plague Tale: Innocence and Requiem already available to stream, we think there’s a very strong chance this prequel will join them when it launches in 2026.

A new face in a familiar world

Sophia, last seen in Requiem, now takes center stage in her own story. A young plunderer on the run, she journeys to a dangerous island in search of her past —and gets caught up in something far more ancient and mythological than the world of A Plague Tale has seen before.

You’ll explore the legendary Minotaur’s Island, fend off enemies, solve environmental puzzles using light and ancient tech, and confront the terrifying truth behind a deadly curse. The story spans both the Middle Ages and echoes of ancient Minoan times, tied together by a mysterious treasure, fate, and the ever-looming force of the Macula.

Combat-first design and puzzle-driven progression

Unlike Hugo and Amicia’s stealth-heavy adventures, Resonance leans into action-oriented gameplay. You’ll parry, strike, and dodge through tense close-quarter encounters while using light-manipulating tools to progress and survive. The mythical setting gives Asobo room to expand the gameplay while staying rooted in emotional storytelling.

A stolen Minoan sphere lets you interact with light-based puzzles designed by Daedalus himself, changing how you solve environments and uncover secrets buried within the island.

Most likely GFN-bound

With Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy now opted into GeForce NOW and the two mainline entries already available on the service, this one feels like a lock. Nothing’s officially confirmed yet, but we’re keeping this firmly on our GFN radar.

Expected to be playable on GeForce NOW via – Steam
