Survival gets serious as SCUM exits Early Access with major upgrades.
After nearly a decade in development, SCUM is finally hitting version 1.0. Announced during Summer Game Fest 2025, the brutal open-world survival game officially leaves Early Access on June 17, bringing with it a massive update and a wave of new content.
A Hardcore Survival Sim Evolves
Developed by Gamepires, SCUM drops players into a maximum-security island prison where survival is anything but guaranteed. It’s a punishing blend of PvPvE, extreme realism, and sandbox freedom—where every calorie counts, and even your digestive system is simulated.
Since launching in Early Access back in 2018, the game has received 258 updates refining everything from inventory systems to combat mechanics. Now, version 1.0 pushes it even further with a full map rework, major visual upgrades, and expanded content across the board.
What’s New in 1.0?
The 1.0 update introduces:
- Graphical overhauls and performance enhancements
- New AI-controlled enemies including armed NPCs
- Vehicle additions like the Seaplane, Tractor, and Sports Bike
- A revamped map covering 225 square kilometers of deadly terrain
- Improved anti-cheat systems to ensure fair competition
Whether you’re building a base, raiding others, or just trying to stay alive against mutant prisoners and colossal mechs, this version offers the most complete SCUM experience yet.
Already Playable on GeForce NOW
SCUM is already available on GeForce NOW, letting you stream the full survival experience without needing top-end hardware. No need to wait or wonder—it’s live and ready for cloud gaming.
This Is Just the Beginning
Gamepires teased even more updates to come post-1.0, shaped by years of feedback from its dedicated community. For survival fans, this marks a new chapter in one of the genre’s most hardcore titles.
