Dune: Awakening

Dune: Awakening is an ambitious open-world survival MMO developed and published by Funcom. Set on the harsh desert planet of Arrakis, the game thrusts players into a massive, shared world where they must fight for survival and control of the universe’s most valuable resource: the spice melange. The game does not yet have a confirmed release date but promises a persistent, large-scale experience deeply rooted in the lore of Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi universe.

The gameplay combines the grit of survival mechanics with the grand scale of a multiplayer online game. Players must manage their thirst by finding water, build shelters to protect from sandstorms, and venture into the deep desert to harvest spice. Danger is constant, from environmental hazards to colossal sandworms that can erupt from beneath the dunes at any moment. Players will craft weapons and build bases that can evolve from simple shelters into formidable fortresses. The game features a blend of third-person combat on foot and in iconic vehicles like ornithopters and landcrawlers. As an MMO, there is a heavy emphasis on social and political intrigue, allowing players to rise through the ranks of the great houses of the Landsraad and engage in massive battles for dominance over Arrakis.
