Baby Steps Gets September Release Date, New Trailer, and GeForce NOW Opt-In

The literal walking simulator was featured at Sony’s June State of Play — and it’s opted in for GFN

Baby Steps, a surreal and clumsy adventure game from Gabe Cuzzillo (Ape Out), Maxi Boch, and Bennett Foddy (Getting Over It), is officially walking its way to release on September 8, 2025 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The new trailer made its debut during the June 2025 PlayStation State of Play, giving fans another look at this hilariously awkward journey — one foot at a time.

You can wishlist or follow Baby Steps on Steam now, and check out our full Baby Steps game hub for everything we know so far.

A Walking Simulator in the Most Literal Sense

Baby Steps stars Nate, an unemployed “failson” with no direction until he discovers his hidden ability — walking. Not figuratively, but physically lifting and placing each foot, one at a time, using physics-driven controls that are both the challenge and the comedy.

Set in a misty, mysterious mountain world, the game is a meditative, absurd, and sometimes philosophical journey through a wilderness where your only real goal is… well, putting one foot in front of the other.

You’ll encounter wildlife, explore strange ruins, fall over constantly, and maybe learn a little something along the way. The world is surprisingly vast, and your trek across it unfolds to a dynamic soundtrack filled with 420 “beats and vibes” that react to your pace and progress.

Expect original systems like the fully dynamic onesie soilage mechanic and other bizarre surprises that give Baby Steps its off-kilter charm.

Opted Into GeForce NOW

Although the game was only confirmed for PS5 and Steam during State of Play, Baby Steps has opted into GeForce NOW via Steam. That means there’s a chance it will be available to stream when it launches in September.

Devolver Digital has a long history of supporting NVIDIA’s platform, with games like Cult of the LambLoop HeroThe Talos Principle 2, and Sludge Life 2 already available. Given that history, we’d say it’s likely to show up on GFN shortly after release, if not on day one.
